Paris is burning--and only Private's Jack Morgan can put out the fire. When Jack Morgan stops by Private's Paris office, he envisions a quick hello during an otherwise relaxing trip filled with fine food and sightseeing. But Jack is quickly pressed into duty after a call from his client Sherman Wilkerson, asking Jack to track down his young granddaughter who is on the run from a brutal drug dealer. Before Jack can locate her, several members of France's cultural elite are found dead--murdered in stunning, symbolic fashion. The only link between the crimes is a mysterious graffiti tag. As religious and ethnic tensions simmer in the City of Lights, only Jack and his Private team can connect the dots before the smoldering powder keg explodes.

*Spoiler alerts* Private Paris opens with a graffiti artist, Epée, racing down Boulevard Barb`es looking for the perfect spot. After defacing a mosque with his special signature he moves on. AB-16. Police try to catch him, but he forces two cars to collide and escapes in the aftermath.
Cut away to a beautiful Paris afternoon where Private CEO Jack Morgan is sitting with the head of Private Paris, Louis Langlois. They are interrupted by a phone call. Sherman Wilkerson, one of Jack’s Malibu clients, needs help. His Granddaughter, Kimberly Kopchicki, is in danger in Paris. They have to go get her and keep her safe.
Along with chasing around a client that absolutely refuses to be caught, they are wrapped up in insane car rides, shootings and international incidences. As if this weren’t enough, Paris’ brilliant and artistic are under siege. With each killing is the odd Tag AB-16. We have murder and mayhem, art and revenge. As always, the Private series takes us on a wild, haunting ride.
This was, perhaps, my favorite of the series. Point of fact, I had often been on the shelf about the series as a whole. While Patterson is one of my favorite authors this series took time for me to warm up to. I liked Jack, if he was a bit crazy; and Del Rio most likely because he is more than a bit. The characters are fantastic and the stories are always fast paced and fierce… they just seemed to always miss some tiny element that the Alex Cross and Lindsay Boxer series had. I think, though, that in this book they found their stride. It had a fluid style, everything meshing well no matter how many things were going on. I am now sold on the series completely.
This book came out yesterday and I could not put it down! Go get it!
The adult content scale is rather high on this one… I am going to say a solid 8. Sex, drugs, murder, violence… you name it.

Not quite up to Patterson standards as I know him. This is a good book, full of intrigue, mystery and interesting characters. The story kept me interested, I read it in three sittings and enjoyed it. My criticism stems from my experience with James Patterson and I am a huge fan of his. I wonder if he realizes that having his name on a novel that he hasn't really written but only collaborated on isn't, in my opinion of course, doing him any favors. I understand "helping" an up and coming young author is a kindness and certainly is a boon to Patterson's overall reputation, but really, I think it does more harm than good, at least for us, the fans.

Old friends and new recruits work well together providing leads and evidence.in this story placed in Paris one job for a long term client led into a modern terrorist attack Crimes occur in LA, France, and on the seas. Two seemingly separate cases have a link which gave valued information to solving both.

The story provides a fascinating and sometimes shocking look at the culture and history of the French. Art, politics, food, and lifestyle blend. Relationships among the characters telling the story vary in depth and duration. Yet, each had valuable information to contribute to the solutions.

Thus, a strong recommendation for this book.

PRIVATE is a global security and investigative agency, founded by Jack Morgan, and Jack heads the PRIVATE team. Louis Langlois heads up the Paris office of PRIVATE. In Chapter One, another, but connected story begins, where someone is targeting the most powerful people in Paris, and only Jack Morgan can make it stop.

Midway through Chapter One, Jack, who is in Paris, learns, from a phone call from Sherman Wilkerson, that he is worried about his only grand daughter, Kimberly Kochinsky. He had just gotten off the phone with her, and she had said there were drug dealers hunting for her, trying to kill her, and had begged him to send someone to save her. Wilkerson then asked Jack if he would go. Jack had replied that of course he would.,,And he goes, and does save her.

In THIS novel, which starts in a building in Paris, Epee (The Sword) looked to his north, beyond an Islamic bookstore, toward the office of FEZ couriers, a messenger service. She was right where he remembered her to be from his scouting trip the week before. He reached down, tugged the kaffyeh scarf up over his lower face and began to jog toward his target. His target was a mosque, and his weapons? Two cans of spray paint. The graffiti tag was of his own design, blood read and dripping, blood red and dripping, and said: AB-16. After escaping from the police, who had been waiting, expecting that he would arrive, the sword thought, as he moved on, only 48 to go. And so begins a tale, in Paris, of drug dealing, violence and explosions, and snipers shooting people in the streets from high buildings, all meant to take over the city in the name of AB-16.

Unfortunately, there are many, too many detrimental factors that require much skimming to find content, including, but not limited to, extended descriptions of mundane events and activities that require skimming before content is found. Were it not for these detrimental factors, PRIVATE PARIS would have been an exciting novel to read. With them, it is just O K.

A good read, and an interesting if somewhat unbelievable plot. What this book needs is a good chronology edit. In one restaurant scene a character leaves the table but a few paragraphs later he is still present. That type of carelessness occurs more than once. The author also makes unintentional grammatical errors. He has a problem with the verbs lie and lay as well as with pronouns me and him.

Nevertheless, the book held my attention to the last page and ended with a hook to the next spine tingling adventure.

I had started the first few chapters before I realized I was not on the first book of the Private series, but I kept reading anyway. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Private:Paris, and had the "one more chapter" feeling for the two days I spent reading this book. I've since ordered the other books in the series, based on my enjoyment reading this one. An entertaining and interesting plot, well written, and addictive. The best kind!
