About the author
Jules is originally from California. She is a true, hopeless, all-in romantic. Her first kiss was with a Frenchman in Paris, her first love was an Eagle Scout, her first crash and burn was with someone from Harvard (Jules studied history at Yale--she should have known better).
The Irish Cottage: Finding Elizabeth was inspired by Jules' love for all things Irish. A love sparked in her teens by Riverdance; fanned into a flame when she befriended a group of Irish kids in France; and blazed into a wildfire by a visit to the Emerald Isle.
Earlier this year, an AncestryDNA test confirmed what Jules has suspected for a while: she's part Irish (one of her grandparents continues to be unknown, but as luck would have it, the test divined that he must have been an Irish-Scot-Swede).

Elizabeth (Beth, Lizzie, Liz) has come to Ireland to recover from the loss of her Great Aunt Mags. Mags raised her, loved her and taught her how to live life.
Now, Mags has provided Beth with a series of letters. The letters are to provide some hints for going forward in life, but also to provide answers to questions Beth did not know existed.
At home, in San Francisco, Beth was a very successful divorce attorney. Her specialty was sticking it to men. She has difficulty relating to men or having any kind of relationship with any man.
Beth meets Connor. He is a man who lives near the cottage she has rented for a time.
Slowly but surely, she finds out about Connor and his life and who he is. Or at least as much of who he is that he chooses to share. He falls in love with her almost immediately. Both of these people are beautiful.
Connor had a childhood which was filled with sorrow. He is popular in the village and he shows her Ireland in wonderful ways. They begin a physical relationship and it is the best sex ever had by either party.,
On one level, I liked the book, but did not love it. Funnily enough, at one point, I had thought about not continuing reading the book. And since the book does not actually have an ending, I guess I did stop my reading.
Beth and Connor and the other characters are all interesting people. I got a wee bit tired at the repetition. Beth is ambivalent, sad and depressed. Connor is sad, in a dark place and keeping secrets. Again, both of them are very beautiful people.
The secondary characters add to the story and make it seem a realistic time and place in Ireland.
I have already said the plot dragged at times, and of course the part about no ending to the story. I was disappointed, but I bet you have already figured that part.

Really enjoyable, could not put it down until I’d finished, you get captured by the story line and can imagine the characters in real life
Well worth reading
Cannot wait to read rest of series
