About the Author

Juliet is originally from California. She is a true, hopeless, all-in romantic. Her first kiss was with a Frenchman in Paris, her first love was an Eagle Scout, her first crash and burn was with someone from Harvard (Jules studied history at Yale-she should have known better). When she isn't writing she can be found photographing landscapes, binge watching entire series on Netflix, or dancing the international cha cha. The Irish Cottage was inspired by Jules' love for all things Irish. A love sparked in her teens by Riverdance; fanned into a flame when she befriended a group of Irish kids in France; and blazed into a wildfire by a visit to the Emerald Isle. Earlier this year, an AncestryDNA test confirmed what Jules has suspected for a while: she's a third Irish (one of her grandparents continues to be unknown, but as luck would have it, the test divined that he must have been an Irish-Swede).

This was a simply lovely book which I enjoyed from page one right until the end
This was a simply lovely book which I enjoyed from page one right until the end when there was an ending that left you hanging--wanting more!!Elizabeth was a powerful attorney who always won her cases. She was trying to get back at her Mom who left her and her father who deserted them. She was brought up by her great aunt who kept some secrets from Elizabeth. As she was dying she wrote Elizabeth 7 letters to try and tell her the truth and to get her to go back to the girl she once was.She rents a cottage and figures she will stay alone mostly and attempt to acclimate to being totally alone now that her great aunt has died. However that was not to be as you will read! I could almost feel the way the people decided she needed friends and help--especially her landlord. You could not meet a bunch of better people if you tried! You may laugh at some, grimace at other parts and the tears may fall as well. It is definitely the story of a woman re-discovering who she was truly meant to be.

Very well written. A pleasure to read. Such a pleasant experience to read something these days that isn't a bedroom scene every three paragraphs. I highly recommend this book and this author... now on to London....lol

I just completed book 5 in the series and am disappointed that book 6 isn't available yet. I read through them rather quickly. Gauvin is a good storyteller and I have come to care about all her characters. Lots of plot twists with villains and she does a good job foreshadowing that something is coming. I think she writes pretty steamy sex scenes. There are far more in the first book than the others. I got tired of them. Does anybody actually have sex like that? I also felt like her main character's ability to drink others under the table and eat endless amounts of sugar while retaining a tiny sexy body was enviably unrealistic as well as the level of money and success the characters enjoyed. But these didn't really get in the way of enjoying the stories. As I said, I'm eager to read number six and find out what happens with all the threads left hanging. While it's a different genre and not on the same level of writing, I'm sure hoping this isn't like Harry Potter where I had to wait a year for the next book to come out. Luckily there were five in the can before I discovered the series. I enjoyed her storytelling and the Irish descriptions were lovely too.

So often novels are so predictable and I hate that! Usually they meet, fall in love and then something overly dramatic happens and its,a back and forth. Always the same. Not here though. I liked this book because it was filled with warmth and growth and trust. Nicely done!

I HATE CLIFF HANGERS!

Elizabeth (Beth, Lizzie, Liz) has come to Ireland to recover from the loss of her Great Aunt Mags. Mags raised her, loved her and taught her how to live life.

Now, Mags has provided Beth with a series of letters. The letters are to provide some hints for going forward in life, but also to provide answers to questions Beth did not know existed.

At home, in San Francisco, Beth was a very successful divorce attorney. Her specialty was sticking it to men. She has difficulty relating to men or having any kind of relationship with any man.

Beth meets Connor. He is a man who lives near the cottage she has rented for a time.

Slowly but surely, she finds out about Connor and his life and who he is. Or at least as much of who he is that he chooses to share. He falls in love with her almost immediately. Both of these people are beautiful.

Connor had a childhood which was filled with sorrow. He is popular in the village and he shows her Ireland in wonderful ways. They begin a physical relationship and it is the best sex ever had by either party.,

On one level, I liked the book, but did not love it. Funnily enough, at one point, I had thought about not continuing reading the book. And since the book does not actually have an ending, I guess I did stop my reading.

Beth and Connor and the other characters are all interesting people. I got a wee bit tired at the repetition. Beth is ambivalent, sad and depressed. Connor is sad, in a dark place and keeping secrets. Again, both of them are very beautiful people.

The secondary characters add to the story and make it seem a realistic time and place in Ireland.

I have already said the plot dragged at times, and of course the part about no ending to the story. I was disappointed, but I bet you have already figured that part.

This is an amazing story of loss and rediscovery of herself. Grief is a powerful emotion and is felt deeply within the entire story but also the discovery of love

Firstly there are more than this one book to read to complete Beth’s story. Pity I didn’t realise that but I did enjoy this book a lot. I love a strong female character and Beth proved that in so many ways. Some of the story is a bit predictable but written well and it doesn’t detract from the story line. Not always predictable in the way you expect. Very much a feel good book and now I’m going to buy the next 2 in the series so I can find out what happens. That makes a good book for me if I have to do that.

The characters are so well developed and so imperfect. I loved reading their story with your words and emotions. I can't wait to read on.

This was a great read! A page turner that kept you wanting to learn more! The drama around Lizzie searching for herself is incredibly relatable.

5.0 out of 5 stars A lyrical, spicy, fun, romantic perfect summer read!

The title grabbed my attention and the story pulled me in and held me. I found myself identifying with the well rounded characters and getting lost in the beautiful descriptions of Ireland. As expected there were some very tastefully versed and responsible (there's always a condom) hot and heavy lusty sex but always tampered by heartfelt emotions. It's always fun to enjoy a mystery while enjoying a romance and this book is no exception, taking the reader along on the main characters journey of discovery of her past and has us cheering when each letter pulls back the veil and allows her to regain her true self. Would definitely recommend this book as a fun read. The author has captured the spirit of Irelands people and excels at their lovely colloquialisms without being pretentious. I'm going to have to buy the rest of the series as the characters have become fast friends. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Guter Lesestoff !
