There's a Serial Killer Loose in Los Angeles and the local authorities need help fast. For some reason the killer has been leaving a string of maddeningly arcane clues at each crime scene. Each of these clues, it seems, is an indecipherable roadmap to the next murder.

Onto the scene comes L, the mysterious super-sleuth. Despite his peculiar working habits--he's never shown his face in public, for example--he's the most decorated detective in the world and has never tackled a cased he hasn't been able to crack.

But this time he needs help.

Enlisting the services of an FBI agent named Naomi Misora, L starts snooping around the City of Angels. It soon becomes apparent that the killing spree is a psychotic riddle designed specifically to engage L in a battle of wits. Stuck in the middle between killer and investigator, it's up to Misora to navigate both the dead bodies and the egos to solve the Los Angeles BB Murder Cases.

Honestly, this was an excellent book. I originally was told about this series by my friend Jessica S. I first thought it to be weird, but it is currently one of my favorite book/Manga series.

    Well back to the point,
This story, about the murderer Beyond Birthday, is narrated by Mihael Keehl. Readers of the Deathnote series will know this man a "Mello" or "M". Anyhow, Mello decides to write this story (one of the three he heard directly from L) because he finds it the most intriguing; (And wants Near to be envious, as Near never physically met L)

The story starts as a normal detective novel, describing how B.B. is about to "Dismantle" his third victim. However, Mello quickly redirects from this, and tells the story in a different manner, going from Naomi Misora's point of view, and often interrupting the story with his own theories.

The plot begins simply, a serial killer in Los Angeles has murdered three people, and has left a series of clues the police cannot solve. This does not interest Naomi Misora, until she is contacted by the mysterious super-detective L. L informs Misora she is his "eyes" and wants her to help investigate the case.

As she begins to investigate the case, she meets a strange detective known as Rue Ryuzaki. The man is a conflict of interest to Naomi, both because of his odd habits, and his incredible deductive ability. The man asks to work with Ms. Misora, and the plot thickens from there.

Overall, this book was excellent, and only slightly slow at the beginning. Anyone who likes Deathnote must read this excellent story. This book also has an excellent reread value that some detective novels lack (Also not sure whether or not to call this a detective novel)

In any sense, a great book. Well done, NISIOISIN.

Death Note Another Note: The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases by NisiOisiN Review (written by a twelfth-grade student)

Delving into a murder mystery, three detectives try to uncover the puzzles left behind for them by an elaborate killer. Located in Los Angeles and set before the original Death Note, this book serves as a prequel. NisiOisiN writes a thrilling story of twists and turns. He expands the fictional story of mankind’s greatest detective, L.

Naomi Misora is an F.B.I. detective who has recently been indefinitely suspended. She receives a call from L, the world’s claimed “greatest detective”. L asks for Naomi’s help in an unsolved case. If they work together, he believes they can solve it.

While investigating, Misora stumbles upon private detective Ryuzaki. He explains how he was hired by the family of the victims to help solve the case. Over time, Misora and Ryuzaki become mutually acquainted with one another. Misora asks L if it’s alright to work alongside Ryuzaki and L approves.

I found myself emphasizing with all three characters. I felt like I was riding alongside them and figuring out parts of the mystery myself. I think that Another Note is eighty-percent character driven and twenty-percent plot driven.
NisiOisiN explores the themes of justice, envy, and trust. Naomi questions what justice is and self-critically ponders if her past choices were right or wrong. I think that NisiOisiN uses his themes effectively. By utilizing the importance of human life he relates Naomi to the reader in a realistic way. The three detectives must continually ask the question, “Who is the next victim?”

I don't bother finishing most novels I pick up, but this one left me wanting more. I felt like I was taken to Toontown (remember Roger Rabbit?), fooled, and set straight. Where can I get a return ticket?

The book avoids a bunch of literary devices that have become cliches. It would be PG-13 if it were a movie. There's no gratuitous violence or angst, and Naomi and Ryuzaki don't rip each others' clothes off. Narrator Mello (who always seemed more like a man of action than letters) may have been a murderer himself, but at least he doesn't want to nauseate his readers.

    It's tightly written.

There are no obvious holes in the plot, characters defying common sense or their own natures to make the story work, or moments that make you wonder, "Why don't they just do such-and-such?"

It helps if you've seen the anime series Death Note or read the manga. (At this writing, Death Note is on Netflix and the scanned, translated manga is online.) You can still follow the story, but you'll miss a trick and you won't even know it.

It's nicely bound with illustrations, high quality paper and binding, and even a black satin bookmark. If this were on Kindle, I'd still get the hard bound copy.

DNAN gave me some of the most enjoyable hours I've spent with a book in a long time.

I guess you should promote anime content in India. Like add some titles to streaming platforms. Reduce prices of anime merch., Manga, novels, etc
Yes this book was little costly but i guess the writer deserve it. Considering other anime stuff if you could reduce prices we will surely buy it. I am looking forward to it.

    About the book,
Its a very good novel. The content is very intresting and the book dont bores you at all. Do buy this book after watching "death note" anime on netflix, etc. The writing in the book is simple and understandable. Its my recommendation to those who love story writing especially mysterious and detective stories. Do sure buy this book.
