About the author
Pam McAllister is a feminist author, activist, poet, storyteller, and professional musician. She edited the celebrated anthology Reweaving the Web of Life: Feminism and Nonviolence (1982) and wrote two books documenting ways women around the world have used creative nonviolence for social justice causes, You Can’t Kill the Spirit and This River of Courage. Grace Paley once wrote, “I’m interested in anything Pam does ... Her work on women’s lives and nonviolence is direct, true, close to my heart, actually -- essential.”
In addition to writing and lecturing about feminism and nonviolence, McAllister has authored books, essays, and articles about the death penalty, Mark Twain, Shakespeare, Agatha Christie, and Sherlock Holmes. She wrote a book of liberation theology-based devotions for people in prison and a column about hymn texts and composers for The Progressive Christian magazine (2007-2011).
Having long ago made the happy transition from rural to urban, she lives in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Read more at www.PamMcAllisterAuthor.com.

This is a workable guide to Dame Agatha's writings, understandably concentrating on her mysteries, but also considering her plays and romances, as well as films and TV shows based on her work. There are also features, such as why you should avoid country houses, and essays by various fans about why they like her work. In addition, there are photographs and diagrams, as well as crossword puzzles and the like. On the whole, it's a good package, though it is intended for an American market, which means that not all the titles are the ones an English reader would recognise. Still, I do think it's a worthwhile purchase, and flick through it often.
